Prepare Your Child to be a Good Businessman
A good businessman is not just born in this world. They got training and education before they reach to the top. You can see most of successful businessman learn about business since they were young. The best way to prepare your child to be a successful businessman is to teach them responsibility. Responsibility means they are getting something from what they are willing to sacrifice. Usually they can sacrifice is their time.
We all know that our children need to enjoy their time as children. But, at the same time, as they get older, they must also learn to make money and function in our society as a responsible adult.
The best way for your child to get this education is by letting them work part time in Burger Joint Verses. There are 5 basic principles about business that they can learn there.
The first one is Responsibility. When they work for someone they will have a responsibility to their boss to finish their work. They need to show up for work and do a good job or they will get fired. From the business side, we can see this as a responsible to our customer. If we did not do a good job, we will be “fired” by our customers.
The second one is the Value of Money. The more time they work, the more they will get. This is also happening when you start your business. They can learn that Time is Money.
The third one is Customer Service. Give smile to customer or get angry face from Boss. This is lesson about how we treat and respect our customers.
The fourth one is about Marketing. They will learn how to fill out an application and go on an interview to market their selves. They can do this once and it’s already done. On the business view, Marketing is a way to “sell” our Business. Do it in the right way and they will get a good payment.
The last one is about Banking Skills. When they got their paycheck, they will learn how to use it wisely and put them on savings or investment. This is a good lesson. For a businessman, they learn how to set budget for advertising costs and evaluate them against profits. They learn to deposit income into the bank and write checks to cover expenses. If they are wise enough, maybe they can put them in the right investment.
So, prepare your child in early ages to help them get a better life.
Grow Your Network while Traveling
Sometimes I laugh when I see people talking about networking. They know about networking is just to collect group of people who has the same business together. They do not have any idea what the real networking is.
Networking is more than that, networking not only about put your business name out there for people to find you. The real networking is about getting to know people, tell the world about what you do or sell, and support all you need.
In order to do this, you must know as many people as you can, and told them about your business. When they need something related to your business, you will be the first one they called. If you are lucky, they may consider tell their family or friends about your business.
There are many ways to improve your network. If you think of it, you will find that there are a lot of ideas of how to get this network. Let me give you one for example.
Do you travel a lot for your business? If yes, you can start by people who sit beside you in the plane, bus, or even in airport. Make it a point to meet and greet at least one new person a day.
Say hello to that person and ask something. Asking question is a good icebreaker, and hopefully they will want to tell you about themselves and where are they traveling. You can then lead into something like, is this business trip or a personal trip? As you go on with the conversation, the person is going to ask you questions, which is where you will be able to talk about your business and what you do. If they show more interest, you can give them your business card. Remember to ask for theirs too if they have.
You can do this every time you go for a business trip. You will be amazed of how many people you have known when you are doing this regularly. Increasing your business network depend on your abilities to carry on a conversation and to talk to the others. Try to force yourself to do this. Force yourself to stick to your habit of meeting at least one new person a day. As you make this a point, this will become a habit and in the long run, your business will thrive for it.
Networking is not build just in a day. Do it regularly and you will see for yourself how your network turns to a big one.
Website for Women-Owned Business
Today the business has increase in a huge number. Most of newly come business is owned by women. This growth has been so impressive that millions of people in this world is now thinking of a woman when they think about who owns the businesses they buy from.
Every woman deserves the compliment for what they have achieved. But still, there is always the case for small business owners, a lot work need to be done.
One thing for sure about small business nowadays is about website. Ten to fifteen years ago, having a website was an option you can choose whether you must have or not. But today, every business has to own their website.
Let me give a few point to you why we need this.
* Today, business leaders and consumers prefer to use search engines than the Yellow Pages. They would like to type the name of your town and your type of business into Google to put their investigation about your business.
* You know as well as I do that most customers are a little shy about asking questions. Usually they do not even want you to know what they are interested until they have learned more about your product or service. A web site allows that enormous number of potential customers to privately and namelessly read all about your business. If they are ready to buy, they will come forward with their questions and orders. It is better and efficient to do business this way.
* With a website, you can put as many information that you want in a public forum. You no longer have to pay thousands for a newspaper advertising just to let customers know about your products and price, or show photos of what you are selling. Now you can keep all that information available on your web site 24/7 in a very little cost.
* Web based business operations is extremely efficient. Customers would prefer convenient email over phone or in-person visits. You will find your web site generates many more customers and they are better organized.
* The last point is, women prefer to buy from women-owned businesses. Women tend to be less obsessive shopper than men. While a large segment of men will buy an item on wish, the enormous majority of women prefer to learn about your product or service, getting all the details they can before placing an order.
